What does pollution do to our world? I think that pollution can kill the world around us.  It causes harm to animals, the air we breathe, and the oceans.  Some of the more common types of pollution you hear about on the news are oil pollution, littering and air pollution. There are also many solutions for all of theses things, such as oil collection, proper disposal of trash, and carpooling.

    One solution for oil pollution is oil collection. For instance, when people get their oil changed they  can spill generas . Some people just dump the used oil on the ground. As a result, when it rains the oil runs into ditches, creeks, rivers, and oceans. Even a small oil spill is a problem because animals could drink it and they could die. If you happen to spill oil, one way to collect it would be to absorb it with kitty litter then dispose of it properly. Another solution is to collect it in a container when you are changing your oil and take it to a recycling center or auto parts store. One more solution would be to raise awareness in your town or community through flyers and posters about collecting oil properly.

      Littering is one of the worst things that contribute to the pollution in the world. Some people will just throw their trash out of the car window because they don't have a trash can to put their trash in. Cigarette butts are the most polluted thing in the world today. Over five trillion are thrown out each year. One of the things you can do to help this problem is to keep a small bag or can in your car to keep the trash to throw away later when you find a trash can. Another solution is to put recycling bins with an ashtray on top of it outside all buildings.  Most buildings are smoke free on the inside so people have to go outside to smoke.  It would encourage people to throw their cigarette butts away instead of throwing them on the ground and would give them a place to properly put their trash.   

      Air pollution is the most common type of pollution. It is in our lives everyday because of cars, factories, and much more. Air pollution is not just harmful to the world but to people too. Polluted air can make people really sick. Carpooling is a way to cut down on air pollution. Not a lot of people carpool because they don’t have a good place to meet and leave their cars.  Setting up specific carpooling parking lots that the police patrol would make people feel better about leaving their cars all day. In some cities, if you carpool then you can drive in the faster lanes and get to where you are going faster.  By having more people in a car it reduces the number of vehicles on the road that pollute the air and can even save time.

Pollution affects all of us.   Most people do not think about it everyday because they do not always see it with their own eyes. Just because they do not see it does not mean it’s not hurting them or the things around them.  We cannot stop oil pollution, littering or air pollution really quick. What we can do is the small things like suggested.  If people start carpooling, stop littering, and increase oil collection then we will have a less polluted world to live in.
